NHSE has shared a map outlining the proposals for the consolidation and merging of ICBs. Under the plans, the 42 ICBs will move to 27 clusters, which are expected by NHSE to have formally merged by April 2026, or by 12 months later at the latest. Around a third of ICBs will be independent after the clustering, mainly in London, the North West, the North East and Yorkshire, with all ICB boundaries within those regions expected to remain the same.
