Today the Government published their Life Sciences Sector Plan which outlines targeted actions to support world-class research and development, attract investment, grow advanced manufacturing, and accelerate health innovation. The Plan follows the publication of the Industrial Strategy last month and the NHS 10 Year Health Plan earlier this month.
HTA shared summary of the plan with our members and our CEO and Founder Nick Lansman commented: “The Health Tech Alliance welcomes the Government’s new Life Sciences Sector Plan as a decisive step forward for the UK’s health tech industry. Today’s announcements which follow the recent publication of the 10-Year Health Plan, clearly demonstrate a commitment to creating an environment where innovation can thrive, from accelerating clinical research to supporting the scale-up of UK life sciences businesses and ensuring faster patient access to cutting-edge technologies.
The focus on streamlining regulation, improving data access and investing in regional health innovation clusters will help position the UK as a global leader in life sciences. We are particularly encouraged by the Plan’s emphasis on partnership between Government, the NHS and industry, as this collaborative approach is essential to turning investment into real progress for patients.
We look forward to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure these ambitions deliver meaningful benefits across the health tech sector and help secure the UK’s reputation as a destination for life sciences innovation.”
