Last week, as part of Health Tech Alliance’s renal care sub-group, we attended Kidney Research UK’s Parliamentary Reception. The event was incredibly interesting, with a high calibre of speakers including:
– Kidney Research UK’s CEO Sandra Currie, who discussed the importance of closing the investment gap into kidney diseases in order to move research forward.
– Steve Powis, National Medical Director, NHSE who shared personal stories around renal care and how important it is to improve patient care considering the life changing effects of kidney disease.
– Karin Smith, Shadow Minister for Health who outlined the need to improve on social care inequalities within the NHS and wider caring elements.
We’re excited to be getting back out there post-recess and attending great parliamentary events on behalf of the renal care group. We completely agree that we need to work collectively to overcome challenges in the sector to transform outcomes for patients and the workforce.
We look forward to working closely with Kidney Research UK and NHSE to achieve positive outcomes for the whole sector.
